Learn how to start a small business
The workshop “Mechanics of Starting a Small Business” will take place at the Peters Township Public Library on March 8 from 7-9 pm. This is a free workshop presented by the University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center, the Peters Township Chamber of Commerce and the Peters Township Public Library.
Those who attend the workshop will learn the basics in starting a small business such as how to get the financing you need, how to structure your business for maximum success potential, what resources are available to them and how to fill out the myriad of legal and governmental forms that all business owners must complete.
Attending the workshop in McMurray is also an excellent first networking opportunity. Learning together and fostering friendships early in their business development will give people a referral network to help boost their business. Even though you might not have a physical business yet you should already have a business card. Printing a card with your contact information is an important first step; the more people who know that you are starting a specific business the more chance that you will be able to get it off the ground.
The University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has been in existence since 1979, its mission is to provide small business owners with the skills they need to succeed and in doing so help the economy of the entire Western Pennsylvania area. The SBDC believes that “the survival of these businesses is fundamental to the long-term health of our economy, and we are here to make sure that your business not only survives but also grows.”
