Home spun show planned in Canonsburg
A show highlighting one of the most basic crafts in the world is coming to Canonsburg.
The Three Rivers Quilters are hosting their annual show, which is judged and juried, and features as many as 130 quilts. The show gives the quilters a chance to exhibit their work, receive critiques from professionals, and win ribbons and cash prizes.
The show typically draws over 1,200 quilting enthusiasts annually, and the volunteers who work at the event have made it a successful outing for over 40 years.
The show has a special theme this year, Stars, and there are specific requirements for entrants. First, each participant is limited to three entries, which must be quilted, which means they have three layers, mostly fabric, which are stitched together. The stitches have to pierce all the layers, and no tied quilts will be accepted.
The quilts must have been completed recently. Quilts finished before January 1, 2020 will not be accepted. All the quilts must be labeled, smoke free, clean, and ready to hang, and quilts entered and shown in previous show will not be accepted. Finally, no mounting devices or weights should not be added, and glitter is not allowed.
The quilting show is set for the Loft Conference Centers – Southpoint at 1000 Noble Energy Drive, Suite 100, in Canonsburg. The show will run April 3 – 5. Shows like this are often successfully advertised when organizers use poster printing to promote them.
