Exhibit the first retrospective of popular artist

The exhibition ‘Charles Courtney Curran: Seeking the Ideal’ is showing at the Frick Art Museum until February. The local facility is one of three stops for this touring exhibit.

Curran was an artist who lived from 1861 to 1942. He studied art in France and was highly influenced by the French Impressionists. A popular artist with collectors, his paintings ‘Woman with a Horse and Carriage’ was purchased by Henry Clay Frick and hangs in the Clayton Library.

Frick’s purchase is one of 60 paintings on display in this exhibition. It was originally developed by the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Memphis. Local catalog printing companies are such to be kept busy by the event, because a color catalog for the exhibition is available for purchase for $26.

There are several related events taking place at the museum this January. The film ‘House of Mirth’ will be shown, and is about the sort of people that Curran painted. The Coffee and Culture event for January 27 will be ‘The Art of Leisure’ and will take place in the Lexington Education Center.

Those who work for area graphics and printing companies, including those from nearby McMurray, may want to make time to visit this exhibit and possible get some inspiration.
