Newark venue hosts comedic legend
A popular comic is making his way to Newark in a few weeks.
David Spade gained fame through the sketch-comedy program “Saturday Night Live.” He has also done comedy tours and specials, acted in many television and film projects, worked as a producer and writer, and hosted podcasts. In many of his jobs, he has worked alongside fellow SNL alumni.
Spade’s latest stand-up comedy tour, “I Got A Feel For It,” will have a show at Newark’s The Midland Theatre. The venue opened 97 years ago, in 1928, shortly before Christmas. The showings included silent films and a variety of live acts. The mix of film and stage work has continued throughout the years.
Starting in 1978, for 14 years, the venue sat vacant, before being brought back to life by The Longaberger Company and Dave Longaberger, with operations being put in the hands of a non-profit group known as The Newark Midland Theatre Association.
Tickets for Spade’s show are available on the venue’s website. Pricing, before the fees, ranges between $49.75 and $119.75. Seating located in the balcony will require the use of a staircase. Many comedy shows use flyer printing or poster printing as a promotion technique. The performance is restricted to those who are 16 and up. The event will start at 8:00pm, with the date being June 7th.
