Newark to become home to festive and beneficial event
An activity in early December is giving locals a chance to celebrate the holidays while also aiding a cause that helps the community.
Run Run Reindeer is a combo racing event. Running enthusiasts can partake in either a five-kilometer or one-mile race. A family oriented “fun walk” is also available to those looking for a more casual activity. There are eight different divisions based on age, with six medals being awarded per division (three male and three female).
The event will be benefiting the YMCA Healthy Kids Network Backpack Program, which aims to provide meals to kids that need them over the weekends, helping to end childhood hunger.
Registration is available via RacePenguin. The 5k has a price tag of $40 through December 6, with the price increasing to $45 on the day of the event. The one-mile race costs $30 in advance or $35 on the day. Included in the packet is a medal, a gift bag, special treats, and a sweatshirt with the event’s logo, no doubt put together by local logo design services, printed on it. Additionally, participants will be able to pose for a photo with a reindeer known as Rudy. Everyone is welcome to dress up in holiday-themed costumes.
The event schedule runs between 8:00 am and 10:30 am with a venue and gathering point of the Newark Rotary Pavilion and Playground. The date of the activity is Saturday, December 7.
