Newark venue hosts popular stage show

A Newark venue is hosting a production across several dates in early March, based on a classic story.

Anne of Green Gables originated as a novel, authored by L.M. Montgomery. In the story, Anne Shirley finds a new community and family, with her personality charming the whole town of Avonlea. The town is a small area with multiple farms, bringing a cozy country atmosphere to the classic childhood tale.

Anne of Green Gables - The Musical is a family-friendly adaptation of the novel, with a book written by Donald Haron and music written by Norman Campbell. The musical is widely popular in Canada, becoming a mainstay in the country’s theater landscape, and is now reaching a more global audience.

The Newark production is being put on by the students of the Weathervane Theatre Academy. The venue for the show will be the Weathervane Playhouse’s Mary Kay Booher Main Stage.

Tickets are available through the venue’s website. With fees included, the cost per ticket comes to $11. There are five performances over the course of four days. Many theater troupes and schools will use advertising methods like flyer printing to showcase their upcoming productions.

There are performances at 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8, as well as at 7:00 pm on March 5, 6, and 7.
