What's Happening in Newark, OH…

Newark shop hosts event with plant life theme

A Newark activity taking place in several weeks will be helping area residents bring plants into their environment.

Established in 1958, Wilson’s Garden Center (WGC) was started through its founders’ farm, selling the crops to other businesses and individuals. In the decades since then, the small shop has expanded into a fully-fledged garden center. This space provides those in the surrounding area with a large array of flowers and other plants.

In addition to the store, the center also hosts a variety of interactive events, all of which have some tie to the general theme of nature or gardening.

This particular class focuses on succulents. Each participant will get a planter in the shape of a mushroom. Throughout the lesson, everyone will pick out a few succulents to fill up their planter, while also learning about how to care for them afterwards.

Succulents are typically simple to care for, making this an ideal gateway for those wanting plants but who may not be used to caring for them. With a smaller group size, the lesson will provide more in-depth instruction as well.

Admission comes with a price tag of $21.99. The WGC website has a page where tickets can be purchased. Flyer printing is a promotion technique that works well for many events, especially those hosted by a local business. The class will take place at Wilson’s Garden Center in Newark on Thursday, March 20, starting at 3:30 pm.
