Newark garden center to offer composting class

Those interested in composting can attend a class at Wilson’s Garden Center in Newark.

Composting Talk is a community presentation led by a professional educator where people can learn about the benefits of composting. Those at the course will be taught different composting methods and what materials can and cannot be used for compost. The lesson will also address disease concerns and the positive impact composting has on soil. The presenter is Dean Kreager, an educator from the OSU Extension Office who specializes in topics like fertilizer education and forage production.

Wilson’s Garden Center is a business that originally began in 1958 and was run by Carl & Helen Wilson. The center mainly serves the Central Ohio area and offers a selection of flowers, plants, and garden decorations. The business also supports the community by organizing fundraiser programs and donating gift cards to local nonprofits. The current managers of the company are Brian Wilson and John Gale. Many events are held at the center, like painting sessions and children’s workshops.

The composting presentation will be on Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Admission to the discussion will cost guests $5 each. All attendees are asked to register and pay for the event in advance. Garden centers that hold lectures similar to this can use poster printing to help promote their classes to the public.
