Veterans hospital in Dayton to receive funding for improvements

A sum of $596 million has been approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for infrastructure improvements later this year. This funding is part of $4.8 billion that the VA will be spending in fiscal year 2026 to repair, modernize, and improve healthcare facilities.

A share of those funds will go to the West Third Street campus of the Dayton VA. Building 119 will see the renovation of the Catholic chapel and there will be repairs to and upgrades made to the vacuum, gas, and air systems as well as replacement of boiler drain and flash tank lines. Flyer printing can be used to inform residents and patients of such improvements to a facility.

Jennifer DeFrancesco, Medical Center Director of the Dayton VA, said:

“This funding allows Dayton VA to continue modernizing and improving, so our facility remains safe, efficient, and equipped to provide high-quality care for our veterans in the Miami Valley.”

DeFrancesco added that this enables the chapel on the historic campus which is almost 160 years old to be preserved.

The base of the Dayton VA is on the campus on W. Third Street with seven locations in Indiana and Ohio, including facilities in Lima, Springfield, Middletown, and Richmond, Indiana. The VA in Dayton employs 2,300 people with close to 3,000 people at all its locations in the region. There are 351 beds in the Dayton VA and it has a budget of over $710 million each year.
