Dayton receives grant to develop student workforce skills

Learn to Earn Dayton will receive a grant of $1.5 million to help students determine the skills and opportunities needed to move into careers that are in high demand. Learn to Earn Dayton is a local educational policy non-profit organization that seeks to improve outcomes for local youth.

The funds will be used to expand the Pathways for Accelerated College and Career Experiences (PACCE) learning model of Learn to Earn, which currently exists, and increase access for schoolchildren in Middletown and Springfield.

CEO of Learn to Earn Dayton, Stacy Schweikhart, said this program will realign:

“how schools, employers, and higher education work together to ensure that students have the skills — and connections — that they need to thrive as adults.”

The framework of PACCE looks to integrate a separate program on career learning into a system that is coordinated throughout the entire school experience of a student. Career assessments will be administered to students to connect students with work-based learning experiences with local employers, identify aptitudes and interests, and help access enrollment in the College Credit Plus program of Ohio as well as public school.

Such initiatives can benefit from brochure printing to provide more details on their educational and workforce programs that will benefit students.

Learn to Earn Dayton is also partnering with Ohio Excels and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce to scale elements of the framework for career-connected learning across the state by 2029.
