Dayton healthcare company receives tax credits for expansion

The downtown Dayton headquarters of CareSource has been approved for tax breaks by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, enabling it to expand.

CareSource is expecting to create 167 full-time-equivalent positions. The project will expand the existing headquarters of the company to accommodate growth from new markets and support back office needs

The Authority approved a 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit of 1.711%, which means that CareSource can claim a credit of 1.711% on new payroll in Ohio related to the location of the project. This will generate over $12.5 million in yearly payroll due to the expansion in Dayton.

A spokesperson for CareSource said that the positions for which the company is hiring are needed for supporting individuals with complex health needs and implementing programs throughout the state. The spokesperson said that the positions will focus on administrative support and care management, and that many will require specialized skills to meet the needs of their clients. Business card printing services are often required for such positions.

CareSource is a national, nonprofit managed care organization operating in 14 states and serving over two million members. Founded in 1989, its mission is to transform healthcare for individuals enrolled in government-sponsored programs, including Marketplace, Medicaid, Dual Special Needs Plans, and TRICARE for veterans and serving military.
