The Statehouse Civis Scholars program is a summer residential internship for eight weeks in Columbus. It will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this summer. It accepts 12 to 15 students every summer who intern in offices in the state government, such as the secretary of state, the attorney general, legislators, and management and budget. Students are housed in apartments close to the state offices, get a stipend, and earn three credit hours.
The DC Flyers program is similar but is carried out in Washington, D.C. The DC Flyers program is in its 11th year. It is available to Honors students with an interest in governance, civic engagement, human rights, public policy, and non-profit leadership or work.
Many students have been involved in both programs before they start their careers in public service.
