The school ended up raising more than $10,000 for the charity. The funds collected will help the Red Cross provide relief and support following natural disasters.
Local banner printing services could have been utilized during the walk, as students from every class carried Banners listing different events and causes the Red Cross helped. Those who participated in the walk collected pledges on a block by block basis.
The annual walk-a-thon was held on May 28th. A blood drive sponsored by the Red Cross was held at the school at the same time, during which individuals over the age of 18 were invited to donate blood. The event culminated with a festive carnival that included games, prizes, and food.
Dr. Nader J. Sayegh, the president of the school board, praised the students and families who participated in the Red Cross event. Michael Yazurlo, the superintendent for the district, echoed Dr. Sayegh's sentiments, stating that the:
"[…] schools strive to instill within students compassion and respect for others within the community.”
The day after the Red Cross event, Paideia School 15 received further recognition, this time from the Mayor of Yonkers, Mike Spano, who presented the school with the School of the Month award.Get a Free Quote for Banners
