Pruning workshop promotes plant wellness in Yonkers

Yonkers residents who wish to learn some skills to supplement their green thumbs are in luck, as a local conservancy has announced a one-time course led by its lead gardener.

The Pruning Basics workshop, which is being organized by the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, has announced the date for interested parties to attend and learn skills that will help them maintain their home gardens. The session will be led by Mario Irigoyen, an experienced Untermyer gardener.

The course will focus heavily on pruning shrubs and trees, with Mario demonstrating the basic techniques and showing how to use the most effective tools for the job. Attendees will also gain more information on when to prune and how to make the proper cuts to promote long-term health. Organizers can use flyer printing to spread the word around town with a minimalist marketing approach that stands out.

Students will leave the learning session with the confidence and knowledge to move forward with pruning at home. The event will also provide attendees with immersion in the beauty of Untermyer Gardens while gaining knowledge on the design and history of the setting.

The workshop will be held at the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, located on North Broadway in Yonkers, and is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th, at 10:00 AM. The rain date is Sunday, April 12th. Tickets are $27 per participant online.
