Yonkers oyster fans invited to seafood celebration

Late this summer, the Yonkers area will be playing host to the annual Westchester Labor Day Oyster Festival. Planned with the shellfish lover in mind, it will feature food and fun for both them and landlubbers alike.

The Great American BBQ Company and New York Hospitality group have teamed up to create an experience oyster fans will long remember. They will be able to try this shellfish served in a huge variety of ways, and both East Coast and gulf oysters will be served.

While many of the festival's guests will be heading straight to the oyster tasting areas, there will be lots more going on as well. They can sample shrimp dishes, pommes frites and a variety of continental fare, and specialty cocktails, bloody Marys, wines, craft beer and mineral water will all be on offer. Oyster shucking and eating contests have been planned, and the Kids’ Zone and live entertainment will round out the occasion.

Those who register ahead of time will be able to enter the festival free of charge, and tickets will also be sold at the gate for $20. Along with these, a limited number of VIP passes have been made available. A large function such as this can be made even more memorable if it includes decor that has been created by an area banner printing expert.

Valhalla’s Westchester Community College will begin welcoming guests for the 2019 Oyster Festival on August 31, starting at 11:00 am. It will be an all-ages event.
