Yonkers offered inside scoop on recycling

The Yonkers public library system has events scheduled all year long, and one that’s been organized with teens, adults and seniors in mind will provide an insider’s view of the area's recycling system.

The Crestwood branch has set the date for an offsite activity that will pay a visit to the Material Recovery Facility in North Yonkers. It is on offer as part of the library’s The New Sustainable You! Series, and it's been scheduled for the afternoon.

Those who sign up will take a tour of the facility, which is located on Stew Leonard Drive. Everyone will see firsthand how the materials are separated, sorted and then prepared for shipping to a third party facility. There, they will be recycled and transformed into new consumer goods or other products. The registration system for the activity will close on March 17th at 9:00 am.

People may appreciate the opportunity to learn about how their community’s public infrastructure system operates, and a tour provides a chance to do so. A brochure printing company can compile informational materials as well as promotional Pens and other items, into packages to distribute during a tour.

The Material Recovery Facility in North Yonkers will be opening its doors to the registrants in this activity on March 25th. Patrons can add their name to the list for the tour through the library’s website.
