Actor and director Ryan Caraway didn't have to travel far to accept the award for Best Actor from the grand jury of the Nordic International Film Festival.
The first annual film festival took place at the Scandinavia House in New York City, not far from the Yonkers resident's home. The festival began on October 31 and awards were given out on November 1.
Caraway won for his work in "By Jingo." The film, which he also directed, focuses on a young man who is trying to support himself and his pregnant girlfriend after Hurricane Sandy.
The Nordic International Film Festival intends to celebrate international and Nordic films as well as the work of up and coming independent filmmakers. Although a part of the festival focuses on traditional Nordic themes, it is open to films featuring storylines and characters of any ethnicity.
Caraway's film had its debut at the festival and played before a sold-out crowd. He can use his win and the success of the film at the festival on future Promotional Products. An official selection of the festival, "By Jingo" was chosen from a submission pool of more than 200 short and feature-length films.
Speaking to the Daily Voice, Caraway stated that he was thrilled about winning and that he was "just happy to finally bring the film back to a hometown crowd."Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
