Literacy is one of the keys to learning, and Yonkers families that would like to ensure their child is progressing as they should will be able to do so by making an appointment for an upcoming activity.
The instructors at The Windward Institute will be on hand in the Riverfront Community Room at the Riverfront Library Branch, and will be offering screening and information sessions to interested families. Advance registration is recommended and a wait list has been created if all the spots are filled.
Each appointment will include a reading and language screenings, and these will take approximately 30 minutes. There will be private consultations if required, and there will be Spanish translators on site. The attendees will be equipped with a list of service providers, support agencies, and other resources. Support for the activity has been provided by The Early Literacy Endowment.
A library often serves as a hub for workshops, screening sessions, and other community activities. A poster printing company can provide materials that make sure the public knows about what has been planned.
The Riverfront Library will be partnering with The Windward Institute for free reading screenings on Saturday, March 8. Anyone who would like to register may do so through its web listing, and the event runs from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
