An upcoming Yonkers introductory class will explore the topic of pruning in great depth.
Knowing how, when and where to prune a tree or shrub can lead to increased flower and fruit production as well as better overall plant health. Untermyer Gardens Conservation will be the location for a workshop that will work to make pruning plants a lot easier. The venue’s Assistant Head Gardener, Drew Schuyler, will share his knowledge, and as a portion of the session will take place outdoors, everyone should dress for the weather.
The session will explore the fundamentals of pruning, including how it can be used to encourage a tree or shrub to grow in desired shape. A discussion of tools such as anvil and bypass pruners will be included, and everyone will walk away with a better understanding of how to make pruning cuts, as well as where to make them on a particular twig, branch or stem. While they learn, the participants will also be able to enjoy the garden.
Pruning and other horticultural skills can be valuable for the home gardener. Basic manuals and other bound materials for a class can be prepared by Stationery printers so that the attendees in a session can refer back to it in the future
Untermyer Gardens Conservancy will be offering the inside scoop on pruning on March 23rd. The class will begin at 10:00am.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
