Yonkers explores mud to delve into its past

Tomorrow evening, an educational experience will focus on the Hudson River, what can be found in it, and the people who play, work, and live around it.

The lecture ‘Mysteries in Mud’ is part of the Urban Rivertalks Lecture series. According to a scientist at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Dr. Dallas Abbott, marine fossils, slag, and tin crystals can all be found in the Hudson River, but are located at varying depths of mud. Focusing on the environmental past, this story will be told through images of the mud located along this famous river.

The sponsors of this lecture are the Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club, the Sarah Lawrence College Center for the Urban River at Beczak, and the Hudson River Valley Environmental Education Institute. All lectures in the series take place at the CURB, the former Beczak Environmental Education Center, and everyone is welcome to attend. Its promoters may have used poster printing to share information about the lecture with people from the region.

Free to attend, ‘Mysteries in Mud’ will be happening on tomorrow, May 1, starting at 7:00 pm at the CURB located at 35 Alexander Street in Yonkers, New York. Call Peter Riley at 212-873-9438 or Lee Reiser at 914-374-7954 for information on how to register, or head to the CURB website.
