An exhibition at ArtsWestchester, an art gallery in downtown White Plains, examines the ways people try to relieve medical issues and other problems in modern day society.
The exhibition – which began in October, closed for the holidays and reopened at the beginning of January – will run through January 14. Among the artists featured in the exhibition are Jacqueline Lorieo from Yonkers, Richard Falco from North Salem, and Carol Pfeffer from Irvington. The artists are scheduled to attend a closing day reception on January 14.
Called ‘Remedy’, the exhibition is open to the public Tuesdays through Fridays from noon until 5:00 pm, and on Saturdays from noon until 6:00 pm. Tours of the exhibit, led by trained docents, are available for individuals and groups for a small donation.
Art galleries can use Calendars to let people know of any planned events and special activities scheduled during an exhibition, which can help people better understand the mission of the exhibition.
One of the goals of Remedy is to explore the role art can play in helping patients heal. According to the CEO of ArtsWestchester, Janet Langsam:
"Artists play a critical role in the healing process."
The works on display in the exhibition somehow explore the connection between arts and healing.
On the last day of Remedy, for example, an artist's talk is scheduled to take place at 4:00 pm, followed by the reception at 5:00 pm.
