Baking cookies and other sweets is a tradition for plenty of people. This holiday season, a Yonkers area woman, Tina Zaccardi, will get to do her holiday baking on the small screen.
Zaccardi is a contestant on the "Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition", which began airing at the start of December and will have its grand finale on December 20.
The "holiday edition" is the fourth season of the popular show. The show itself was inspired by another popular reality baking show, the "Great British Bake Off."
TV programs that are running special holiday seasons can use printing services to get the word out and to encourage people to tune in.
Zaccardi is one of 10 bakers who landed a spot on the reality TV show. She applied to be on the program several times before she got accepted. A self-taught baker, her preparation for filming included several weeks of training England before the competition began.
Like other reality cooking competition shows, the bakers on The Great American Baking Show prepare treats that are judged by a panel. This year's judges include Paul Hollywood, a cookbook author and host of the "Great British Bake Off, Anthony "Spice" Adams, and pastry chef Sherry Yard, who's won three James Beard Awards.
The grand finale of the program airs at 9pm EST on December 20.
