An upcoming Yonkers event may help to take a heavy load of the shoulders of veterans in Yonkers.
Vets, as well as their families and supporters, are invited to be part of a discussion panel and community forum, which will be focused on mental health for former military members. The featured presenter will be Sal Gonzalez, who works with the Wounded Warrior Project.
Gonzalez was wounded in 2004, and wants to share the story of his journey back to good physical and mental health. He will explain how, even though it may be hard, veterans should not feel ashamed to ask for help, and he hopes to encourage other vets to reach out if they are hurting. Anyone who has questions has been asked to contact the planners at 914-592-5458.
Workshops and other activities often serve an important role in the community by helping to remove the stigma that tends to surround mental health issues. A poster printing company will be able to help spread the word to the public by creating attention-grabbing publications.
This activity, which will work to ensure that no vet is left behind, has been planned for the evening of Monday, February 7. It will begin at 6:30 pm, and it will be taking place at the VFW located at 574 Yonkers Avenue.
