This spring, Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks Department will be teaming up with locals to hold the community’s largest volunteer project, and it will take place just in time for Earth Day.
The organizers have put the call out for willing hands to help with a variety of tasks, and all assistance will be appreciated. The work will take place at Lenoir Preserve, and masks and suitable clothing are mandatory.
Upon arrival for the activity, the helpers will be assigned their duties, which may include staining the sugar shack, planting flowers, and removing invasive plant species that threaten the preserve’s ecosystems. The tools to get the jobs done will be supplied, and no experience is needed to get involved in the service projects.
Offering the members of the public an opportunity to get involved in an activity like this allows them to take on stewardship roles, making them stakeholders in their community. A printer can prepare an assortment of inexpensive branded Promotional Products such as water bottles and lanyards.
Anyone who is interested in doing a good turn for Mother Nature is asked to register ahead of time for this spring clean-up. Scheduled for Monday, April 19, everyone is asked to arrive by 10:00 am, and the work will continue on into the early afternoon.
