It will be located in a large office suite in Highland Hill, in Southwest Yonkers.
Speaking to the Yonkers Daily Voice, LaMont Badru, the executive director for the Community Governance and Development Council, stated:
"The PowerLab is a direct response to [the needs of the community] because we believe that if given the resources and opportunity, we can create the jobs that will uplift our neighborhoods, and lead the projects that will make our communities better for our children.”
About one third of the population in Southwest Yonkers lives below the poverty line and there is limited economic opportunity in the area.

In Yonkers, the Community Governance and Development Council worked with a marketing company, Defiant Media Group, to get the co-working center's marketing off of the ground. The group also launched a crowdfunding campaign on April 10.
The goal is to generate $30,000, which would allow the organization to purchase a few final items it needs before the launch. Some of the funding would establish a discounted membership program.
