Annual challenge issued to Yonkers runners

For the past 93 years, an intrepid group of runners takes to the hilly terrain of Yonkers to be part of its annual marathon. This year will be no exception, and registration is now open with four options for the participants to choose from.

Those who are interested in challenging themselves can choose from 5K, half marathon, full marathon and relay events. It’s a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, and while traffic will not be halted during the race, law enforcement and event volunteers will be on hand to help make sure everyone enjoys their day safely.

Both individual and group registration options have been set up for the marathon, and race packets will be distributed at designated locations and times. The registration fee will depend upon which option is chosen, and a special discount has been offered to students who sign up for the Yonkers 5k race.

Participating in a long-standing event like this can become a tradition for people in the local area.
