Queens celebrates its diversity this fall

The Viva La Comida festival is taking place this month in Queens. It is a presentation of the 82nd Street Partnership.

The festival celebrates the variety of cultures that make Queens their home. There will be plenty of food of all kinds and from all cultures provided by local restaurants and bakeries. There will also be 10 food trucks on hand including Food Therapy by T. Pierce and the Cotton Candy Truck.

There will be several musical performances in the jazz, Latin, and roots genres. Some of this year’s performers include Yailin Garcia, La Cumbiamba NY, La Huerta, and DJ Michael Noonan.

In addition, there is set to be an art exhibition and interactive art activities including murals inspired by Hispanic Heritage Month. For children, there will be entertainment from the AB Magic Show and face painting.

Vendors representing 82nd Street businesses will also be on hand to sell a variety of merchandise.

It is likely that people from all over Queens, including Forest Hills, will take the short trip to attend this annual festival. Organizers have probably invested in sign or banner printing services to spread the word.

Viva La Comida will be held on 82nd Street in Jackson Heights on September 17 from 12:00 to 7:00 pm. Admission is free. Call the 82nd Street Partnership at 718-335-9421 to learn more.
