Birdspotters of all skill levels may appreciate the chance to be part of an outing that will introduce them to the feathered friends at a local venue.
The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) in nearby Douglaston offers a variety of ways to learn about nature, and its Summer Bird Walk will visit its birds in an assortment of habitats. It is intended for adults, and along with the opportunity to sharpen their bird identification skills, everyone will be able to meet others who share their interest.
The outing will visit habitats such as wetlands, forests, and open meadows, and both year-round and migratory birds may be spotted. On their journey, the group will learn facts about a variety of avian species, and binoculars are highly recommended.
A nature-based activity such as birding gives people the chance to enjoy fun in the great outdoors. Species checklists paired with promotional Pens can make it easy for the participants to record their observations and other data.
The Alley Pond Conservation Center, just a short journey from Forest Hills, will host this occasion on Saturday, July 26. Spaces are available at the time of writing, but numbers are limited, and the fee to participate is $15 each. It will take to the trail at 11:00 am and lasts for an hour and a quarter.
