A properly constructed terrarium can thrive for a long time to come, and a Forest Hills area activity will teach how to prepare one of these mini-gardens.
Queens Botanical Garden connects the community with the natural world, and its terrarium building class will bring a piece of nature indoors. The completed projects can be taken home at the end of the activity, and each registration includes admission to the garden. The day is for people aged 13 or older.
The facilitator will teach how to use the materials supplied to create a planting, and the attendees will be working with ferns, liverworts and mosses. The plants will grow and change over time, creating a living mini-ecosystem in a bowl. The knowledge gained, including choosing plants that grow well together, can be used by the participants to keep on creating.
An introductory crafting or planting class can be a fun and quick way for a beginner to learn some new skills. Attendees may appreciate receiving sheets of care instructions and other tips, and these can be prepared by Stationery printers.
Queens Botanical Garden will be offering its Garden in a Glass workshop next Sunday, May 18th. The venue for the session is located at 43-50 Main Street in Queens, New York. It will run from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
