Forest Hills Library plans pinata party

The Forest Hills branch of the Queens Public Library System will be providing a taste of Mexican culture when it hosts its Pinata Workshop for families.

The library runs a variety of programs designed to make learning fun, and its Pinata Workshop will offer a hands-on experience at crafting one of these decor items. The day is geared towards kids from the ages of 6 to 11, and each will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Families who register will be using the paper mache base and tissue paper provided to create their own, personalized pinata, and while they work, they will learn more about the pinata’s symbolism and the role they play in Mexican culture. Anyone interested needs to register in advance, and spots are expected to fill up fast.

Libraries, community centers, and other venues may offer a busy schedule of workshops, classes, and other activities. Brochure printing companies are often tasked with preparing guides that let the public know about what is open to them in their home area.

The Forest Hills branch of the Queens Library System will be celebrating in Mexican style with this pinata crafting class set for Friday, March 20 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. It is located at 108-19 71 Avenue, and registrations for the workshop can be made in person and over the phone.
