Forest Hills area organizes bat-themed night walk

While they may not know it, Forest Hills residents share their green spaces with some night flying insect hunters, and a local walking workshop will introduce these creatures to local nature lovers.

Green-Wood Cemetery will be offering an introduction to the nighttime world of bats, and biologist Nic Comparato will guide the experience. It will provide an opportunity to learn about the species that are native to the area, but is not recommended for kids under age 10 or those with mobility issues.

The tour will take place once the sun goes down, and a rain date has been set. The participants can expect to spot and learn more about little brown bats, hoary bats and other species, and there will be a live demonstration of how bats use sonar to navigate and hunt their insect prey. Tickets are $31.59 each, and check in will be held at the Cemetery’s Gothic Arch.

A nature-based activity may be a fun way for the public to learn more about the world around them. A flyer printing company can prepare a variety of promotional materials that may help to build public anticipation for an event.

This introduction to the bats that call the Forest Hills area home will take to the trails at The Green-Wood Cemetery on August 1st. The Rain date is August 2nd. It will be repeated on August 14th, and its rain date will be August 15th.
