Trellising techniques can be useful to know when growing vegetables in a home garden, and these will be on the agenda during a workshop open to Forest Hills home horticulturalists.
Queens Botanical Garden provides the area with opportunities for hands-on, environmentally based learning, and it has a class on offer that will explore the benefits of trellises and how to use them. Various planting techniques will also be discussed, and tickets start at $5.
The facilitator will provide tips and tricks for successful seeding and planting, and both transplanting and direct seeding will be reviewed. This will be followed by an introduction to the art and science of trellising and how this can lead to success when cultivating tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, and other plants that grow on vines. There will be onsite parking available, but everyone is asked to consider choosing public transportation.
The spring season can be a busy time for gardeners, who may appreciate knowing about upcoming workshops and other activities well in advance so they can make their plans accordingly. A flyer printing company can prepare Calendars and other mailers to send out to highlight upcoming activities.
Thursday, May 14 will see this in-person introduction to the art and science of seeding and trellising on offer at 43-50 Main Street, New York. It will begin at 9:30 am.
