As another harvest season approaches, a Forest Hills area venue will be “popping” thanks to a festival that will celebrate a popular American crop.
First cultivated by indigenous people of North America, corn has come to be a staple crop in many areas, and Queens County Farm Museum’s Corn fest will put it front and center. It will also mark the opening of the Amazing Maize Maze, which is being opened to the public with support from Con Edison.
The families that include the festival in their August plans will be treated to an assortment of corn themed games such as cornhole, a corn hiking contest, a scavenger hunt and sack races. Face painters will be on site, and food will be on offer for sale. Craft vendors from the local area will be setting up shop, and cornbread tastings will also take place. This history of corn and cultivars such as indigenous gem corn will be on display, and there will be lots of other hands-on fun.
Festivals and other large public events may attract lots of attendees, and signage can help to keep everything organized and running smoothly. Signage can be ordered from local banner printing companies.
People of all ages are invited to “pop in” for the annual Corn Fest on offer at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway in Queens. It will run from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm on August 29th.
