Forest Hills to host film festival

The Forest Hills Library will hold multiple screenings of films and workshops from the Festival of Cinema NYC.

Those interested in watching movies directed by independent filmmakers can attend the Forest Hills Library Film Festival. The multi-day event will feature submissions from the Festival of Cinema NYC competition, such as Carnaval de Cuba, A Different Perspective, and Baba Babee Skazala. Attendees can also watch presentations on subjects like the art of the pitch and showbiz-related software. One of the screenings will even introduce viewers to the NYC Indie Film Collective.

The Festival of Cinema NYC gives emerging filmmakers a chance to get maximum exposure. During the event, directors will have their movies screened to large audiences for 10 days. Each showing allows filmmakers to interact with viewers through Q&A sessions. The films shown during the festival have been covered by several notable outlets, including CSNBC and the NY Post. Those who promote fests similar to this may use flyer printing to get locals interested in watching the films.

The library's film festival will be held in person on dates between August 3 and August 10. A full schedule of the fest's screenings can be found on the Forest Hills Library's website. Registration is not required, and no payment is needed to see the presentations or movies. Adults are the intended audience for the screenings.
