Forest Hills to hold virtual walking tour

The Queens Memory Project will be broadcasting a virtual walking tour next month at the Queens Library in Forest Hills.

People interested in exploring Jackson Heights can attend an online show hosted by Adrienne Onofri. She will serve as a tour guide for the viewers and draw attention to how the current pandemic has impacted the community. During the virtual tour, attendees will see local COVID testing sites and vaccination centers. Onofri will show viewers how Jackson Heights has adjusted to the pandemic.

The Queens Memory Project began in 2011 as a collaborative effort between Queens College and Queens Library. The goal of the digital archive is to preserve local history through photos and interviews with locals. The project hosts several events, such as expressive arts workshops and photography lessons. It also has a podcast that features first-person accounts from members of the community. Organizations can promote ongoing events like this by using poster printing to advertise at local libraries.

The walking tour broadcast will be held on May 18th from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. The show will be appropriate for families, and no registration is needed to see the tour. Guests can watch the event live on the Queens Memory Project’s Facebook page. Those wanting additional information about the project’s future activities can find more details on its website.
