Forest Hills to celebrate famous jazz artist

Forest Hills jazz fans can tune into a virtual presentation in February that will discuss the life of jazz artist Ella Fitzgerald.

Keeping Jazz Alive: Ella, The First Lady Of Song is a program organized by the Queens Public Library where people can learn about the iconic performer Ella Fitzgerald. Loren Schoenberg, the senior scholar of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem who has previously performed with Fitzgerald, will be the presenter for the event. Fitzgerald has played with several noteworthy artists, including Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Many of her recordings will be played during the presentation.

The National Jazz Museum in Harlem is an attraction that aims to preserve and promote the genre to others by celebrating national and international Forms of jazz. The museum offers many educational programs during the year for every age, such as virtual field trips and in-person workshops. The current workshops of the attraction include Jazz Artist Exploration, Joining the Band, and Born in Harlem. Museums with entertaining programs like these can promote themselves to the public with flyer printing.

The presentation on Fitzgerald will be held on February 3rd from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm. Adults are the intended viewers of the program. There is no admission price or registration requirements to listen to Schoenberg’s lecture. The link to join the activity is available on the library’s event page.
