‘Good Day’, the first feature-length film from Louie Cortes', a native of Forest Hills, takes place on Halloween but is not a horror movie in the traditional sense. The film is best described as a comedy-drama centered around the activities of a group of twentysomething New Yorkers on Halloween evening.
The film will debut at the Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema, which runs from August 4 to 13. Cortes' film will screen on August 12, and is one of more than 150 indie films from around the world that will screen during the festival.

Speaking to the Forest Hills Times, Cortes said
"[I] just always enjoy the aesthetic and the atmosphere of the holiday and I wanted to add it into the story."
The six characters meet while on the way to a Halloween party. Instead of focusing on traditional Halloween scares, each of the characters comes to the realization that real life might be more terrifying than anything the October holiday has to offer.
Although ‘Good Day’ is his first full-length film, Cortes is no stranger to making movies. He has shot a web series as well as a few short horror films, and says Good Day is actually a departure for him stylistically.
