Forest Hills gears up for new stadium opening

The US Open arrives in Forest Hills in August. If all goes well, the new Louis Armstrong Stadium should be opening just in time for the tennis competition.

At the beginning of June, Danny Zausner, the chief operating officer of the National Tennis Center guessed that construction on the 14,000-seat stadium was nearly 95% finished.

The new stadium is part of a $600m renovation and upgrade of the US Tennis Association's Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The entire project is slated to take five years. The new stadium is estimated to cost $200m.

Organizations that are updating and upgrading their facilities can use banner printing to keep the public up-to-date on the project.

One of the highlights of the Louis Armstrong Stadium will be a retractable roof. During cases of rain, the roof would be able to give shelter to 40,000 spectators in both the new stadium and the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The new stadium will also be the first to be ventilated naturally, with openings at both the southern and northern ends. Even with the roof up, air will be able to flow through the stadium.

Additionally, the new space will be able to accommodate more people than before and will have amenities and features designed to make the experience of watching tennis more enjoyable. Among those updated amenities are bathrooms that are four times larger than before and larger concession areas.
