Forest Hills residents can learn more about healthy lifestyles by viewing a webinar offered by the Queens Public Library.
Eat Healthy, Be Active is a program that is part of the Queens Public Library’s Wellness Wednesday series. Classes in the series start conversations on how to make healthier decisions and lead a balanced life. City Harvest will be giving the presentation alongside Christopher Galarza, a community health educator. The discussion will teach viewers which foods should be increased in daily diets and what foods should be enjoyed in moderation. The webinar will even show people how to incorporate more fitness into their daily routines.
City Harvest is a food rescue organization that was created in 1982 by Helen verDuin Palit. The group offers nutrition education courses, delivers food to those in need, and responds to disasters. The charity also helps children during the summer with its Feed Our Kids Food Drive. The organization has a food council of notable chefs throughout New York City, including Dan Barber, Anne Burrell, and Markus Glocker.
The healthy eating class will be held on Wednesday, September 21 from noon to 1:00 pm. No registration is needed to view City Harvest’s program. The webinar may be viewed on the Queens Public Library’s Facebook or YouTube.
