Flower artist to give class in Forest Hills

Patrons of the Queens Public Library in Forest Hills can attend a flower arrangement lesson in May.

Flower Arrangements With Anna Kao is a program where people can learn useful techniques for creating art with flowers from an experienced floral artist. The workshop will cover arrangements like simple corsages and complicated event centerpieces. The isolation of contemporary urban life inspires Kao’s art, and her pieces have been featured in galleries such as the Cypress College Art Gallery, the City of Brea Art Gallery, and the El Segundo Museum of Art.

Anna Kao is an artist who went to the University of California, Irvine, Otis College of Art and Design, and Harvard University. She has been part of solo exhibitions like Ghost Grove, Homeland, and Trace. Kao was featured in several artist Books, including On Desert Tracts, Palimpsest, and Homestead. Many of the installations Kao has created are responses to the endless repetition she sees in urban landscapes.

The flower arranging lesson will be held on May 20th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The program will be presented in English, and all ages are allowed to take part in Kao’s lesson. There is no cost to attend the in-person event at the library, though materials for the course are limited and will be distributed to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizations that hold art lessons like this may use Print shops to design custom Posters for the classes.
