Couple to offer childrens music activity in Forest Hills

Musiquita will be holding six courses at the Community House in Forest Hills that explore Spanish culture through music.

Those interested in giving their children a fun cultural experience can attend the six-week Musiquita program. The lessons help kids develop their language skills in English and Spanish through interactive songs. Many instruments will be used throughout the courses, such as the piano, melodica, and violin. The classes will be held outdoors, though the instructors may move the lesson indoors if it rains. Participants should bring their own blankets to sit on.

The program was created by Blanca Cecilia González and Jesse Elder during the summer of 2020 to bring joy to the community. González has a degree from The Juilliard School in New York City, and Elder was the music director for Postmodern Jukebox. The target audience for the program is children aged 0-6, though the couple believes the music can be appreciated by all ages. These classes bring together traditional, modern, and original compositions.

The musical activity will be held every Saturday from April 15th to May 20th, and each session will begin at 10:30 am. The complete course costs $180 per child. No more than two adults can accompany a child in the program, and adults will receive free admission to the classes. People who offer children’s activities like this may use printing services to promote their lessons to families.
