Small businesses and their customers in Carson City will get a boost to start their holiday shopping season this year.
On one day next month, the Carson City Downtown Business Association (DBA) will be providing the first 100 shoppers with $10 to spend in any of the downtown participating businesses. There will be at least 18 shops, restaurants, breweries and arts associations taking part. The spirit of the holidays will also extend to provide all shoppers with coffee and a cookie to start their day.
Small Business Saturday will kick off at Laxalt Plaza where the refreshments will be provided from 11 am to noon before the festive shopping begins.
The giveaways are a DBA initiative as part of its mission to host events that draw visitors to downtown businesses and fuel economic growth and activity. The DBA also provides businesses with monthly networking opportunities.
In addition, members of the DBA benefit from bulk advertising initiatives. Currently, the association has a campaign that includes distribution of monthly Print ads to over 70,000 area addresses. Business groups that undertake this type of drive often use flyer printing as a way to reach potential customers.
Small Business Saturday will be held on November 29, 2026, in downtown Carson City. Coupons for ten dollars will be restricted to one per family. Further information, including a list of participating merchants, is available on the DBA website.
