The 8th Silver State Art Festival in Carson City will provide the public with the opportunity to take an art class. Not only will visitors be able to browse and purchase works by 40 award-winning artists, but they will also experience hands-on art instruction.
Over the three-day festival, there will be classes in jewelry making, basket and wreath making, and gourd art using leather and clay techniques. People of all skill levels are welcome to participate.
The festival is presented by the Nevada Gourd Society (NGS) and will feature artists from California and Nevada. The NGS is a non-profit organization focused on sharing knowledge and information about growing, curing, and crafting hard shell gourds. Currently, there are two Nevada branches associated with the NGS, but the society hopes more will be created, and additional festivals can be held.
Though gourd art will be in focus at the upcoming Carson City festival, work by artists in many other media will also be included. Having Business Cards available for customers can be beneficial for self-promotion among artists who attend shows such as this.
The Silver State Art Festival will be held from September 11 to 13 at Fuji Exhibit Hall in Carson City. The event will include a large charity raffle with as many as 50 prizes. Further information and art class registration are available on the NGS website.
