Next month’s Plein Air Festival in Carson City will have a broader scope, encompassing additional artistic disciplines and allowing for more artist participation.
This year, the event will not only include watercolors, but also acrylics and oils, as well as pen, pencils and pastels.
The main home for the festival is the Brewery Arts Center, which works to support and encourage area artists and promote the arts community as a whole. The center will host the Plein Air exhibition and events. However, artists will create their work outside throughout the city for several days before presenting it for judging and sale.
In each medium, a top prize of $1000 will be awarded to the artists and there will be a best overall prize of $1000. Runner’s up and people’s choice awards will also be presented.
Through the festival, artists will offer workshops and there will also be guided walking tours and a reception where the public will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with the artists. A silent auction will allow attendees to bid on their favorite pieces.
Artists who take part in festivals such as this often make Business Cards available to potential customers.
