Mark Twain remembered in Carson City

The legacy of famous Nevadan Mark Twain will be celebrated next month in Carson City. The third annual Mark Twain Days is a weekend festival that will include a range of activities and events.

Writer and humorist Samuel Langhorne Clemens lived in Carson City when he began using the pen name Mark Twain. He first signed his work as Twain when writing letters to the area newspaper editor in 1863. He went on to be well known for writing the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and many other Books and essays. The festival offers an opportunity to learn more about his life and work in the wild west.

Mark Twain Days will include the Twain Train, a VIP train excursion from Carson City to Virginia City, complete with period costumes.

There will be literary workshops, ghost tours, artist and book fairs, and downtown markets. In past years, the Nevada State Museum has hosted a bow tie ball, but this year it will celebrate the characters of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer with a casual Low Brow Social.

The festival is presented by Visit Carson City and the Brewery Arts Center in partnership with many local sponsors. Businesses that get involved in events such as this often have local Print shops provide their Graphic Design Services.

Mark Twain days will be held October 16 to 19, 2025 at various locations in Carson City and nearby Virginia City.
