All aboard for Independence Day railway in Carson City
The Carson City Railroad Museum has a full weekend of July 4th activities planned for the whole family. The Star Spangled Steam Up is a multi-day celebration that will feature train rides, games, tours, lectures and more. Groups that organize such events often use flyer printing as part of their advertising.
The museum event will be highlighted by the visit of Tahoe, a locomotive from the Nevada County Narrow Guage Museum. The engine was operated by a Nevada lumber company from 1875 to 1899 and went on to be seen in many films and television shows.
Daytime family activities will include all-day rides on Locomotive 25, Glenbrook and Tahoe, as well as self-guided tours of the museum’s Jocobsen Interpretive Center. The Center provides a glimpse into the area’s railroad past, including an exhibit of train communications systems and a display of scale models of many locomotives.
For passionate train enthusiasts there will also be evening activities highlighting each of the three historical locomotives on a different night. Participants will hear from expert speakers about the building of each train, their service years, and eventual restoration. The evening will also include a ride on the locomotive and the chance to take photos.
The Star Spangled Steam Up will be held July 4 to 6, 2025 at the Carson City Railroad Museum. Daytime events run from 9 am to 4:30 pm and evening activities from 5:30-8:30 pm.
