Growing strawberries at home can be a rewarding summer pastime, and a Carson City workshop will make it easy for the casual horticulturalist to get started.
The crew at The Greenhouse Project works to support sustainable living by hosting a variety of workshops and other programming, and its Growing Superb Strawberries class will introduce tips and tricks for successfully cultivating this small fruit crop. The venue for the activity is at 1535 Medical Parkway in Carson City.
During the session, the group will discuss how to grow strawberry plants that produce high yields of quality fruit. Cultivar selection, planting, fertilizing pest and weed control, and harvesting will all be on the agenda, and there will be a limited number of strawberry starts on sale for the participants so they can get growing as soon as possible.
