Summer nights bring movies to Livingston

There is something special about being outdoors on summer nights, and Livingston is enhancing the experience by providing free movies. Anyone who would like to join in the fun should be at the Gazebo located in Memorial Park at sundown.

The first film on the schedule is “The Sandlot,” a 1993 coming-of-age film about a group of boys who play baseball on a sandlot, and discover how to work together as a team, especially when confronted with a dog called “the Beast.”

Next up is “Trolls Band Together,” an animated film from DreamWorks Animation. It’s the second in a series of troll musicals, and follows the adventures of a troll “boyband.”

The next film, “Wonka,” is the third movie about Willie Wonka, the character created by author Roald Dahl in his book “Charlies and the Chocolate Factory.” Following in the footsteps of Gene Wilder and Johny Depp, Timothée Chalamet plays the titular character, this time in a story about how Wonka became Wonka.

The series ends with “Kung Fu Panda 4,” the latest in the animated film series about Po, a panda who gives up his status as a Dragon Warrior to become a spiritual leader.

“The Sandlot” will be shown August 7, the trolls trudge through on August 14, “Wonka” is August 21, and the feisty panda winds up the series on August 28. Organizers of series like this will often use poster printing to create colorful advertising for them.
