What's Happening in Livingston, NJ…

Livingston to put the fest in Oktober

One of the world’s favorite holidays is coming up, and Livingston has a plan to celebrate.

Oktoberfest, the traditional German festival, will be observed in Livingston. The Livingston Kiwanis Oktoberfest & Family Fun Day will be held at the Livingston Oval and is hosted by Councilman Michael Vieira. Activities suitable for both children and adults are planned.

Adult activities include a Beer Garden with an Oktoberfest theme that includes adult competitions with trophies, keg rolling, a pretzel toss, and stein holding.

Children will be able to enjoy pumpkin painting, face painting, a petting zoo, a trackless train, inflatables, Touch-a-Truck, and more. Touch-A-Truck events are popular throughout the country and allow children of all ages to examine vehicles like fire trucks up close.

Food trucks will be on hand, and live music will be provided by popular local bands PUNCH the Monkey and Arena Relive the Rock. Vendors will be attending, as will sponsors, all with tables and exhibits.

Proceeds from the celebration will go to support local charities in the community, and the Livingston Volunteer Fire and First Aid Squad. Donations are $5, with children under two admitted free. Children under 10 will be given a small pumpkin they can paint, and there will be pumpkins for sale. For this type of event, organizers can use poster printing methods to create colorful advertising to support them.

The fun is scheduled for October 12, from 8.00 am until 3.00 pm.
