New tradition starts in Livingston

The first Lifetime Achievement Award of the Livingston Lancers was recently bestowed upon coach and retired educator Don Schwartz at a surprise breakfast hosted by the Big L Club.

Schwartz still dedicates his time to Livingston High School by encouraging and supporting its students through photography. Schwartz was declared a Livingston icon and the epitome of Lancer Athletics by the Big L club. His family was also invited to the breakfast to see the video and the presentation of the award.

According to David Cohen, Athletic Director, many coaches and teachers have made tremendous contributions to the school during their career but it is not often where this impact is still being made after retirement. He added that Livingston has a position in the Hall of Fame that is well-deserved, both through the athletic department and as an educator.

Many confirmed Cohen’s comments. Jason Daly, head coach of softball, said that Schwartz is an example from whom the entire faculty and student body at the high school could learn a great deal.

Former Athletic Director Pat Genova said that no one else is more deserving of this award, Schwartz is a coach, photographer, teacher, trustee of the Big L Club, and well-respected throughout the community.

The school might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to advertise the achievements and accomplishments of Schwartz by means of Posters and Banners.
